Wonder Woman Lynda Carter’s Mexican Roots

If only my younger self knew wonder woman was a Latina like me – perhaps I wouldn’t have felt so lonely.

In honor of Wonder Woman movie weekend (starring Gal Gadot) – we just want to take some time to remind y’all Lynda Carter, our beloved original Wonder Woman, is Latina!

Born in Arizona as Linda Jean Córdova Carter; her mother, Juana Córdova, and grandmother, were both from Chihuahua, Mexico. “As the granddaughter of Mexican immigrants, she has expressed support for immigration reform and has even spoken out against Arizona’s SB 1070” [excerpt from Vivala 2016]

Carter even received the honor of “Hispanic Woman of the Year” in 1983. She has also been honored by Mexican media over the years and has always been proud of her Mexican roots.
